- Tsuba - Yamashiro no Kuni‐jū Nagayoshi saku” (山城国住長吉作).

I am selling this Tsuba of Yamashiro no Kuni‐jū Nagayoshi saku” (山城国住長吉作).

This Tsuba is a masterpiece - look at the details of monkeys and the vase on the desk.

Nagayoshi used hira‐zōgan and gold iroe and the deki and condition are outstanding. 

We know that the name Heianjō‐sukashi did not exist when these tsuba were described
for the first time. The name probably came about because these tsuba were made in
accordance with the taste of the Ashikaga‐shōgun, who resided in Kyoto which was known
also as Heianjo. And at about the same time, there were Kyōto‐based swordsmiths like
Heianjō Yoshinori (平安城吉則) and Heianjō Nagayoshi (平安城長吉), who signed with the
former name of Kyōto. So we know that the name “Heianjō,” with respect to craftsmen, was
at least not unknown back then.

A tasteful piece. Especially popular among collectors -  real treasure item.
