Katana “Kaga” – attributed to Fujishima Kiyomitsu (初二清光) – Mumei – Late Muromachi Period
A characterful and historically significant katana from the late Muromachi period, stylistically attributed to Fujishima Kiyomitsu (初二清光) of the Fukishima School. Although the blade is mumei (unsigned), its form, workmanship, and steel characteristics strongly reflect the traits of this lineage.
Blade Characteristics
Hamon: Irregular, lively pattern
Hada: Refined Itame mixed with Mokume, typical of Kaga-school workmanship
Boshi: Ko-kissaki
Hataraki: Abundant activity including sunagashi, kinsuji, inazuma, and noticeable utsuri
Yasurime: Kiri with slight katta-sagari
Nakago: Iriyama-gata, typical of Yamato influences; Kaga-style nakago termination
Habaki: Two-piece, copper with gold/brass plating
